After a long week

Enjoying a lovely day in Bethlehem PA after a long week at work. Troubleshooting issues after a planed upgrade combined with a major network upgrade and average andy didn’t get much sleep the last few days

Going to sit back and enjoy the Giants game tonight and then start getting ready for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Will try and write more this week

Still without power

Still without power due to the snow storm on Saturday. Lots of trees down including large branches that took out part of my deck and crushed our swing set like Godzillia stomping on a house.

Looks like no Survivor tomorrow night. Thank God for Comcast and On Demand. Should be able to catch up once the power is back

Have a great weekend

Looking forward to another fun weekend.   I will be heading to the 55th Annual Philly Non-Sport Update show on Sunday.   Always a great time to see whats new and exciting in Non Sports Trading Cards.   Will also be attending the Card Talk Breakfast on Sunday.

With both the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (6 -1, 2-0) and the NY Football Giants (4 -2) on byes this week, I feel like it’s the first truly free weekend I have had is a while.    Should be able to get a lot done around the house and the yard.  Hopefully the weather is as nice as the past few weekends.

I have to say that Wednesdays episode of CSI was one of the best in a long time.    Ted Danson is a great addition to the cast.

Another great week of Survivor and The Amazing Race.    Still waiting to hear back from Survivor on my application (Again if anybody out in cyber world has any type of connections to Survivor, Jeff Probst, or Lynne Spillman, be sure to mention AverageAndy).  Together we can make my dream of being on the show come true.

Have a great weekend, and remember to “Think your Happy’s”

End of another week

Another week gone by.

Finally recovered from the NY Giants loss lasts Sunday.   Have mixed feelings as they played an awful game (but still had a chance to win at the end).    A win would have been big since the schedule only gets tougher in the 2nd half of the season.

Completed the Califon Bridge to Bridge 5K a few weeks back in under 30 Minutes.   Felt good to accomplish one of my goals.   Already looking forward to next year.

As for Reality TV News;

Submitted my application for Survivor.    Will continue to submit my application  each time until the producers see the light and bring AverageAndy in for an interview.    Whatever happens after that is out of my control (Although once they get to meet me personally, there is now way I will not be considered)

Still watching the show each Wednesday.    Never gets old.   Loved the challenge with the roasted pig this week.   There are a few people this season who seem never to say or do anything.   Not sure if this is simply editing, or they are just duds.   I can guarantee you that AverageAndy would not be a dud if I were on the show.

Also enjoying this season of the Amazing Race.   Seems like they made the challenges more difficult (not physically, but mentally).   Will be getting my Application in (with my sister) in November.

As for regular TV, am really enjoying Ted Danson on CSI.

Am also starting to enjoy Person of Interest and Unforgettable.    Have tuned out of Terra Nova (way to clichéd)

Will be rooting for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks to continue their winning ways this week when they take on Fordham this week.   A win will put them at 6 -1 (2 – 0) and looking good for making the play-offs for a 2nd straight year

Hope everybody is doing well and looking forward to a fun and exciting fall.

Halloween will be here soon (Don’t forget to play the Helloween classic “Halloween on the 31st), and then just a few weeks after that until the annual trip to the Peculiar Pub in NYC.   I believe this will be the 20th anniversary  so maybe I will try and put together something a little special this year

Keep on smiling

As we head into October

Average Andy has lots of stuff planned for the upcoming weeks.

On Sunday, I will be running in the Califon Bridge to Bridge 5K (2nd year).   Looking forward to seeing how much (if any) I improved from last year.   The weather should be nice (a little chilly) but should be a fun day.

Will be attending the Philly Non-Sports Card show on October 23rd  (www.nonsportupdate.com)  Always a fun time.  Lots of changes in the Non Sports Card Hobby over the past year (Most noticeably the movement towards premier packs instead of the standard boxes).  Not sure quite yet where I stand on this.   Hopefully after the show, I will have a better idea

Looks like October will be a great sports month.     The Giants have won 2 in a row, and look to keep the momentum going against Arizona this Sunday.    The Baseball play-offs start tonight (Without the Red Sox again;  I am upset they played so poorly down the stretch).   Will be rooting for the Tigers to beat the Yankees.    Also Lehigh Football continues their season against Yale on Saturday.  This is their last game before conference play begins

Both Survivor and Amazing Race are off to good starts.     I never get tires of watching.     Applications are currently  being accepted for both shows, (As always, AverageAndy will be submitting his).    Wish me luck.   As always if anybody out there reading this has an in, or knows somebody who may be able to help, be sure to pass my info on

On a completely different topic, had a good discussion with a friend last week on the value of going to college.  We decided that if you like the idea of the College Experience outside of academics    i.e  social life, sports; campus then by all means a major university is for you.   But if you are strictly looking to learn, you would be much better off going to a Community College where you could better concentrate on you studies.    With the insane cost of College these days, you really need to determine what you are looking for before making a decision.

Will be back soon with reviews the new /old TV series that I have been watching.    Nothing earth shattering so far this year,  hoping that something gets me going

Keep on Dreaming

Mid week thoughts

It’s Wednesday, and that means another episode of Survivor. The premier last week was awesome, and this looks like another great season. Not a big fan of an all All Star Season, but don’t really mind them bringing back a few past survivors. Say what you want, but Coach is a fun guy to watch

Don’t forget that The Amazing Race premiers this Sunday. Hope they go to some fun and exciting places and counties this time

Good win for the Giants on Monday night. It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win and it should give the team some confidence for this weekends show down against the Eagles

Heading out to Goodman Campus on Saturday for Lehigh Homecoming against Liberty. Should be a good game as both teams are ranked in the top 20

Will try and find some time to write more and give you Average Andys thoughts on what’s going on in the world

Keep on dreaming

Saturday

Few things for this Saturday

Lehigh Football opens their home season agains New Hampshire. Looking to go 2-0 on the season. 

Don’t forget that Survivor starts it’s 23 season this Wednesday on CBS . Survivor is still one of the best shows on TV

Looking forward to other returning shows (CSI – with Ted Danson, Glee, 90210, HIMYM, …), as well as some new shows that look interesting.

If you stream music (Pandora or other sites), create a station based on “Andy Kim”. Some nice 70’s music to brighten the day. The world has become to bitter and cynical, so sometimes it is good to simply tune things out for a bit

Writing this from my iPod touch. Will write more from the computer soon

Hope everybody out there has a happy and great weekend

Go NY Football Giants

Back for more

Sorry I haven’t written much lately.   Been in kind of a funk

Here are some thoughts running through my mind this morning

Turned on the Met’s game last night (vs. the Florida Marlin’s).   There had to be may 500 people in the ball park.  This got me thinking how it can be financially feasible for team like the Marlin’s to exist.   Even with their new stadium next year (Good luck with that, will still have small crowds next year is they are 30 games out entering September).    I am waiting for some owner to figure out that he can pay his players (and this goes for all pro sports)  about 75% less and the people will still come (they may complain that the team is not trying to win, or doesn’t care about winning, but they will still come).     Look at all other industries.   People pay for cheap products that they now are junk and will fall apart.   They put up with shitty customer service.   But they keep buying and doing what they want regardless.   Why the owners of sports teams (and big entertainment companies) see not to realize this is crazy.   Are you telling me that nobody would turn on CBS and watch 2 1/2 Men this year is they had hired a lesser actor (then Auston Kuchner at ~700.000 per episode).   Good for Auston for getting this deal (and good for all athletes for there deals).    One day soon, some owner will realize this, offer to pay all players the league minimum, and still manage to put a team on the field (and probably still draw more than the Florida Marlin’s in their new stadium)

Football season starts on Sunday (hate the stupid Thursday night season opener).   Looking forward to a great season by the NY Football Giants.   With the Met’s no longer relevant,  it will give me something to be excited about.   And my Fantasy Football team is looking good this year (managed to trade Peyton Manning for a draft pick;  probably the steal of the draft)

More to com as I need to run to a meeting
